How to live life with sacred mindfulness
We often think of spiritual abundance and material abundance separately. But I always use them together, hyphenated. That’s what the Expansive teaching are about, living in greater spiritual-material unity, balance, and abundance.
So, what if you could live your life from a state of sacred mindfulness. It would enrich your life and be both spiritually fulfilling and materially gratifying.
Well, here’s spiritual-material abundance simplified, showing you how you can perceive and appreciate, as well as generate spiritual-material abundance in everything with which you engage.

Hello, everybody. It is time for another Expanding on Expansive weekly tips and teachings. And I want to focus today on spiritual-material abundance. What’s it all about? What does it mean to live in spiritual-material abundance? What does it mean to create, to generate, spiritual-material abundance?
And so there’s a post I posted this week where I say, “Living with sacred intention is the key to spiritual-material abundance.”
So imagine yourself in this sacred state, mindfulness. You are fully present to something else, to someone else, to nature, to a person, to a pet, to your creativity, to your heart. You’re fully present. And you’re experiencing the sacredness of it. At that moment, you are mindful of both the spiritual qualities present in that with which you are engaging, and you are aware of the sacred expression of these spiritual qualities.
So let’s take a flower. You’re looking at a flower. You’re looking at its physical material, beauty, the petals, the colors, but it also inspires in you beauty or delight or tranquility. So those are the spiritual qualities that are expressed through the material composition that you’re seeing, the way the petals come together, the colors, the leaves, maybe the light, how it comes onto the flower.
So you see that spiritual-material unity. That’s living in greater spiritual-material balance. And that’s how you generate, and create, and appreciate observed spiritual-material abundance. Let’s take something like technology. Here I am, talking, using technology. I’m on one side of the planet, you’re on another side of the planet. You’re receiving my words.
Here we are using something material to share inspiring, possibly transformative ideas and emotions, and to share my spirit with you. So you see that’s spiritual-material unity through technology, and that’s how we generate spiritual-material abundance through technology. Here we are. Technology is so developed and I’m not talking about that it doesn’t have a shadow or a dark side, but we humans have, too. We humans have a dark side, too. We have a dark side too. We have a shadow– a big one. And still, we don’t need to discard us completely. So likewise technology has a shadow, has a dark side. Let’s not discard it completely. It has spiritual material-abundance and access to it as well.
So for example, you could pick a stunning image of nature and use any technological device that you have– your phone, your iPad, your computer, and look at this picture for its expansive qualities or its qualities of inner peace or beauty. And as you look at the picture using technology, material, material, something material, but as you sit there for 30 seconds,
one minute and take the image in, you’re taking in the spiritual qualities that are present in the picture through technology. That’s spiritual-material abundance.
Yes, you can go out and sit under a tree and you can look at the material properties of a tree, the roots, you can see them, the trunk, the branches, the leaves, the fruit, the flower, whatever you see– the colors, the use of greens and browns. That’s the material expression, but it’s a material expression of beauty or patients or abundance or peacefulness. And so when you interact with that tree and you sit under the tree, you are allowing yourself to take in spiritual-material abundance. That’s showing up through that tree and connecting you to spiritual-material abundance within you.
You see, I always put spiritual-material unity or balance or abundance. Hyphen. I never say spiritual abundance and material abundance. Sure. It is both of these if we separate them, but I always put them together because they show up as unity at every given moment. And so if you approach your life, everything you do and everyone you interact with and you interacting with yourself from the sacredness and mindfulness, a presence, that is the key to spiritual material abundance. Because suddenly, you tap into qualities that you weren’t noticing because you were just going about your day, but suddenly it’s like, ‘Wow, there’s comfort in my car. As I’m driving, there is convenience in my car as I’m driving it. My car is taking me to a meeting that has to do with expressing my life purpose.’ So there’s purposefulness as I’m driving in this material, physical car, and as you drive in your car with this mindfulness, there’s spiritual-material abundance in your car as you’re driving it. When you are quiet for a moment, you see the sacredness of the moment, the generations that came before that have made this car possible for you for society.
Again, there is a dark side to transportation. We know that. At another time, we can address that, but we don’t want to throw all of it out. Just like human beings have a dark side, we don’t throw human beings out. We have a dark side, we have a light side. So does transportation. So do cars. So does technology. Let’s take just a few more examples so you can see what spiritual-material abundance is all about, what it means, and how you can access it right now, whatever you’re doing. As I said, driving in the car, talking to the cashier at the store, being on a zoom meeting, sitting under a tree, let’s take finances, creating financial freedom, money, money has so many negative things laid upon it and positive things, too, but a lot of negative stuff.
Well imagine creating or having financial freedom today. I mean, there are other systems, gift-giving, and bartering, but today we live with this exchange of finances of money. And so money is the stuff that abundance is made off. It’s not about accumulating, but if you want to have more free time, you want to have the financial freedom to do it.
If you want to give more and be more generous, you want to have the money to do that. If you went to express your calling and your life purpose, and you want to reach a larger number of people or the people in your community, whatever, from the farmer’s market to Instagram and social media, at whatever scale it is, you want the finances to do that.
So money is all about abundance. And so it’s important to acknowledge that we want this abundance because it is both spiritual and material. Money is about spiritual-material abundance and financial freedom is about spiritual-material abundance. It frees you to live fully, to do fully, to create fully, to give freely. So that’s another example. And so the same goes for inner peace.
Let’s say you want to connect to inner peace. So here you are meditating. Maybe you recall a time in your life where you experienced inner peace and your relive that moment, and suddenly you’re in a state of inner peace. Or you listen to a meditation that’s relaxing and some relaxing meditative music and you experience inner peace. Or again, you look at the stunning image of nature that I shared before.
You know, you look through technology at a stunning image of peacefulness in nature. You take that in, suddenly you are experiencing inner peace. You’ve switched to that channel, that vibrational state, that field of inner peace. Now it’s internal. It’s a spiritual experience, but it’s also material expression through your body. There’s physiology that changes when you experience inner peace.
Now you’re walking around the world with this field of inner peace. And anyone who walks into that field of yours is going to be touched by inner peace. They’re going to get some inner peacefulness because they enter your field of inner peace. So you see how something like inner peace that you feel and experience in a meditation as you continue walking in this field of inner peace, you are, first of all, transformed physically. And then as you walk with within the field of inner peace, anyone who enters your field virtually or physically is touched by that field and gets a width of inner peace from you.
You know how some people might say, “When I’m around you, I always feel so peaceful”? It’s because someone’s walking around with that field of inner peace. And inner peace is a spiritual quality, but it’s expressed materially through this person through their posture, and their tone of voice, and the look in their eyes, their expression, everything. So that is spiritual-material abundance. And it’s readily available everywhere for you to tap into at any moment. And you can do the same with beauty, and with comfort, and with purpose, any quality that you want, you can create, you can generate, you can perceive it in the material world around you and have these experiences– satisfying, fulfilling, gratifying experience of spiritual-material unity, balance, and abundance. And so I want to end with ease because I want you to really walk into the new year with ease. And so you can do the same with ease, right?
