The focus today is an invitation for you to keep singing your song– to keep singing your unique song, your unique note in the harmony, in the orchestra of life, in the orchestra of humanity.
I’m Anna Gatmon and wherever you’re watching this, this is coming to you from The Expensive with Anna Gatmon YouTube channel.
So I want to share with you a challenge that I am going through and how it relates to keep singing your song.
So I live in Northern California. I live out on an apple orchard, and there’s a lot of wildlife around. And, there is a Mockingbird that sings at night. So mockingbirds are known for imitating the songs of all other birds and then singing all of them one after the other. So there’s a Mockingbird that starts singing at night. There’s nothing happening outside, and this Mockingbird is just chirping away going from one note to another, does a few of one kind, then a few of another. It just goes on all night and sometimes during the day, as well.
And it just cracks my heart open because I feel that the Mockingbird is showing me that all you have to do is just keep singing your song, even through hardships, even if it’s not easy. If you have a challenge, you have a setback, just keep singing your song. It’s just singing there with maybe nobody listening. I’m the only one maybe awake listening. But it doesn’t really matter; the Mockingbird is there on a branch all night singing, singing, singing its unique song, its unique tone, its unique note.
And so, I’m in the process of launching– I’m about to launch– the expansive path course. I want to do a part one so people can have a taster of the first section of three sections of the full Expansive Path course. And I’ve been listening lately to many wonderful, wonderful leading teachers on marketing and sales, and how to build funnels, and how to build your list, and writing emails and sequences of videos, and wonderful stuff.
And when I’m listening to it, I’m so excited. It’s so genius, I go, “I gotta do this, I gotta do this, I gotta do this.” And then here I am, and I’m about to prepare everything.
I’m in the process of preparing it and about to launch, and I just get lost in details. And I realized, like, I can get excited about marketing, I need to market the course, but it’s not my forte. This is not my song.
And so, I get all excited on the idea level because in this expansive state, in the idea level, I can go, “Wow, this is fabulous,” but then when it comes to details of executing it and doing it, I get lost. I get lost, and then I beat myself up, and I feel that I can never do it. I can never make it. it’s never gonna work. It just, I become overwhelmed, and it’s a familiar place that I know about myself.
And so, what I did today is I just got in the car, and I went for a ride. And I went for a ride for an hour, just rode around and just saw the vineyards and saw the Oak trees. Each one is so beautiful and everything is blue.
It just allowed me to expand my consciousness. I just needed to be in motion, in an expansive motion. So in the car, I got to both be in motion and expand my consciousness, and I was driving and thinking about all of this, just realizing, you know, this is not my forte. Let me do this in the simplest way. Let me not do this alone. Let me ask for help, but don’t stop singing your song. That was the message for me.
Just like the mockingbird, just keep singing your song. And so I want to offer you this, the same thing. Whatever you feel your gift to the world is, whatever your medicine, your healing balm is for the world. We all have all these things that we need to add to what we actually want to do and do best so that we can get to the place where we can actually give the gift that we have.
Even if you work in corporate America, you need a CV. So writing CVs is not your thing, but you need to write a CV in order to get the job. And so I just want to leave you with this.
Again, keep singing your song. Keep singing your song. Find what your song is. If you know what it is, keep singing it. If you need help, ask for help. Go on a ride, so that you can have expansive motion. Go meditate, do an exercise on gratitude, whatever you need to do, you know, to come back to this place where you feel spacious again, where you have more possibilities, which is what I teach, and yet, I fall into like a narrow-mindedness as well.
And so just go back into this more expansive space, and find creative ways, creative solutions for whatever challenge you’re dealing with right now. But what is most important is to keep singing your song. Because we need every one of us. We need you to sing your song in the orchestra and harmony of humanity and of life, always and definitely during these times, where we so need each other. And each one of our gifts is precious, is a precious gift to our world and is needed now more than ever.
So keep singing your song and wherever you’re watching it, leave a comment.
Blessings.
