Have you ever heard of the expression work is love in action? There’s experiencing love in your heart towards people, in relationships towards your pets, towards many things. And then there’s work is love showing up in the form of an action that you’re taking.
I love this expression.
It’s from the Findhorn foundation, which is a spiritual community and education center, an ecovillage in Northern Scotland where I had my so-called spiritual awakening.
And so I want you to entertain this week your work, whether it’s in your personal life, your professional life and whether you’re getting paid for it or not. I want you to entertain your work as love in action. And I want to give you an example of it that I write about in my book. And that’s a meditation I did at some point while I was in the process of writing my book.
And it was hard. It was hard work. I felt I wasn’t a writer. I was doing this more cause I am on a mission to share my message. You know, of spiritual material balance and creating spiritual material abundance and the expansive consciousness that I’m trying to share with people. So that people can live in a more expansive state of mind and being and make choices and actions and have results that show that spiritual material balance and this expansive reality.
So I’m on a mission for that more than self-expression. I want to write. When I write, I write cause I need to write to get to a certain goal that I have. I’m not a creative writer and yet when I write, I have moments of elation when my idea comes together or something like that. But it’s hard work for me.
And so I was in the process, I was in the middle of writing and I was just, I was going through a really down period where I was feeling, why was I given this task?
Here I had these revelations, I felt committed to share them. I felt I had to share them. I did my doctorate degree so that I’d have an authority behind me, like a PhD when I speak about the teachings that I want to speak about. I was writing a book because of the same and everything I’m doing is for that, but I’m not a writer.
So I decided to go into meditation one one weekend, one morning and ask the universe why I was picked for this task. Why was I picked to write this book? And you know, so I went into meditation and closed my eyes. I breathe deeply, and I asked the universe, why was I given this task? You could have picked him an accomplished author, someone who has already written 30 books, five books. There are people who do that. Why have you chosen me?Like why did you choose to give me all these to show me to open the door to this hidden world that I had dreamt of since my childhood. And here I was given this hidden world. And now I have to go out into the world and share my message and I need to write a book so that people can hear what I have to say and I can reach to people. And so why did you give this to me? Why didn’t you give it to somebody else accomplished?
And I was sitting there really feeling bad and really wanting to know why I was given this job and this is the answer that I was given:
It came twice first very short and concise and then with some explanation.
So first it was like this, the initial response, and I’m reading out of my book, I got from the universe was simple and clear, self love, self care, kindness to yourself.
I sat with that message and as I did more detailed guidance unfolded. You have been given a gift and it is your duty to share it. Just as you express self love and self care by eating well and taking care of your body, your writing should be an act of kindness to yourself. If you write as an act of self care, everyone will benefit. You will be self-actualizing while serving the greater good. Yes, this will demand self-discipline but you will find your unique voice even though it may be challenging.
So in a sense I was given a message that work is love in action. It’s not just about sitting quietly and experiencing love. That’s one thing when you sit and you just emanate love and you can think of different people and events and just send them love. And as you do it you are feeling more and more love.
And another kind is work is love in action. Is doing your calling, is expressing your calling, doing the work in the world that expresses your message.
So just like I wrote a book in order to share my message, not in order to self express myself as a writer, but he ended up being a self expression cause I got to share my ideas and have people read those ideas. So look how beautiful here I was doing a task that was so challenging for me and I was wondering why I had been chosen for it. I mean I chose it but I felt I didn’t have a choice. I felt I had been chosen and I had, it was my duty. And the message does say you have been given a gift and it is your duty to share it. But turn it into a loving kindness experience for yourself. See it as a practice of self care, of self love and of kindness to yourself.
So I’d love for you to think of a way this week where you could take something you have to do, whether it’s the, it’s this thing that you love doing the most or it’s something that you need to do that supports what you love doing because we have all these things that we need to do that are not our favorite, but they support our calling and support what we love to do.
And it can be something that you do in your private life, in your personal life or in your professional life. It can be something you are paid for or not paid for. It’s still a piece of work that you need to do this week.
And I want you to practice. Can you see this as an act of self care, an act of self expression of kindness, of love to yourself and love to the universe? Because by living your calling, expressing your calling through this act that you will do this week and the different tasks that you will do, you are loving our planet. You’re loving the universe. You’re loving humanity. You’re willing to be a channel through your unique expression and your unique essence.
You’re opening up to be a channel. So that is an act of love to the world, as well as to yourself being part of it.
And then I’d love to hear what the experience was like. So have a wonderful time trying out the, then trying out, practicing work is love in action. Work is your love in action work is the universe’s love towards you in action.
These words are full of love, thanks for sharing with us. I feeling so much loving and romantic after reading all these.
Glad my words have shifted something in you, Alexa. Just shows how easy it is to shift to a state of love and care, even when it relates to our daily work and living. Keep practicing this attitude, work is love in action, my exchange with a specific person is love in action, my exercising at the gym is love in action, and so on.
Blessings,
Anna
